Growing up on a humble farm in Vietnam, we knew the value of a good and healthy meal.
Even though we didn’t have much, we had something pretty awesome – an abundance of fresh greens. Every meal was like a mini feast with these tasty greens, a gift from nature we cherished daily. They made our simple meals feel like something extraordinary.
When we came to Australia, we noticed a contrast. Here, we found a cuisine rich and diverse, but not enough greens. We were surprised because back home, greens are a big deal in every meal. We learned that there’s a huge gap in the daily green intake among Aussies.
So, we thought, why not bring a bit of Vietnam’s green goodness to Aussie meals? And that’s how Bami was born. We’re not just another restaurant; we want to make eating greens a big thing here, and we work days and nights to get everyone to enjoy the true essence of street food AND more greens. We believe in more than just serving food; we aim to weave the lush tapestry of Vietnamese greens into the fabric of Aussie meals.
Our way of cooking is simple – keep it fresh. We avoid reheating and using the microwave too much. This way, the greens keep their fresh taste and goodness.
Bami Vietnamese was founded in Adelaide in 2016 by childhood friends and life partners Trien Le and Mai Nong.
Trien, a former chef working for various restaurants in Adelaide, and Mai both developed a deep love for traditional home cooking from a young age. Completing the winning trifecta was Khanh Tran, who had a background in hospitality.
Being in Vietnamese culture, the team developed a deep love for traditional home cooking from a young age. Their profound appreciation for food, family and heritage gave birth to the concept of Bami Vietnamese. The team set a vision to build a restaurant business that provides the essence of Vietnamese cuisine.

Bami's Journey began in 2016, initially operating a food van that offered Vietnamese rolls in Marion, Adelaide. Recognising the immense growth potential of Vietnamese cuisine, Bami has transformed itself from vood vans to take-away stores and restaurants.
Founded by Trien Van Le and Mai Nong, we initially operated a food van offering Vietnamese rolls at the Marion shopping centre.
The founding team made a strategic decision to transition from food vans to takeaway stores.
Our first restaurant with dine-in sitting area.
With the passion for Vietnamese cusine and the love for Bami growing, Bami's first investors come on board, with our first franchised restaurant opens in Daw Park, SA.
The business grows quickly with a chain of Vietnamese franchised stores throughout South Australia.
Our 10th restaurant opens in Hilton Plaza, SA.
